Frozen Wonderland

12:41 pm - KatieNumbers

Struggling against the bitter cold wind, you take another step forward, already thinking about the warmth of your fireplace waiting for you at home. That's when a delighted child's voice reaches your ears. Surely, it cannot be, can it? No child could be lost in this unforgiving cold and survive, could they?

Knowing damn well that your conscience would never allow you to move forward without being sure, you hasten your pace and make your way to the top of the hill you're currently climbing. When you reach the top what you see leaves you open-mouthed in surprise: on the bottom of a snowy valley three human children, a reindeer, and a snowman play, clearly oblivious to the unfavorable weather.

Some very unusual magic has transformed Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf into the younger (and cuter!) versions of themselves. Now, they must face this Frozen Wonderland - with all its challenges and opportunities - which is not an easy task for a small child in a big man's world. Are you up for the task of helping them have some fun in the snow?

Then join us in our Frozen Wonderland, where the fun - and also the rewards - can be immense!

12:06 am - desi

"Come now Harry, the Ministry doesn't send people to Azkaban for blowing up their aunts."
Magical mishaps are a common occurrence in young witches and wizards. Being young and not yet in control of their magic, children are prone to what is commonly called accidental magic. This is such an issue that there is an entire squad in the Ministry of Magic responsible for reversing the effects of these outbursts. Head over to January's Theme Prompt and write about a young witch or wizard using accidental magic.

Are you more of a reader than a writer? Then head on over to Reader's Digest, where the audience gets to shine! Don't forget to participate in the following activities to earn tickets towards the Monthly Raffle:

Character Journals l Continue the Story | FanFic Con | Guess the Character | Picture Prompt | Writing Circle

RP TC Updates

5:23 pm - Jamoki

Snow is still falling, but the holidays are over. Santa's come and gone, and the elves have packed up what they brought with them to Hogwarts in Two Into One. Classes and other sometimes boring things are starting right back up. But in the Teaching Center we are making sure to keep things lively for everyone!

Just like Belle, the staff of the Teaching Center want everyone to tell a story in Tell me a Story, a beginners roleplay. After you've told us a story, it's time to be like our friend Elsa and let it go. Except, you'll be auditioning to join a band in In The Spotlight, an Open Roleplay.

Last but certainly not least, we in the teaching center pick out our star pupil of the month and award them with the prestigious award, Student of the Month. Come check out this months Student of the Month, ShaonHarry and see what she did to deserve this title. To find out more information on how to be the next Student of the Month, stop by over Here to read up on it.

January Welcome Center Update

11:59 am - CustardApple

It is the season; winter season! Just like you, all of us in the Welcome Center enjoy this time in our own way, with our own favorite drinks, sports and locations. No idea what happened to the list, but we might just need your help to re-figure out who likes what again in Sorting Winter Sporting.... And to stay on our cold, cozy and snowy theme, our Monthly Discussion this month focusses on winter sports and games. Maybe you have played winter sports now or in the past? Or maybe you made up a new game in the snow or on the ice you need to share with everyone? And when we are all done playing in the snow, take a cup of your favorite hot beverage, and join us in Welcome Center Chat Thread to warm up and enjoy some good company.

Our monthly Newbie Raffle for new users has some amazing, snowy prizes up for grabs in addition to our usual offerings. And if you have questions as you learn your way around HEX, feel free to ask in our Q&A thread!

And finally, if you are under 13 years of age we have a special place just for you here on HEX. Come and visit the Weasley Hideout for even more contests, activities and chat threads for our younger members of the site to get stuck into!

This month, the RPC is up to no good.

The start of a new year often brings many resolutions, but this year, some resolutions might be rotten to the core. Show us all the ways you can be wicked with your Rotten Resolutions in this month's Roleplay of the Month.

We need all hands on deck in this month's RP Freestyle. After all, it takes a team to dispose of a body and clean up a crime scene. Join The Murder Club as they try to cover up a murder. Will they be able to get away with their homicidal crime?

Not everyone has mischief in their blood. Perhaps you'd like to be the next Sherlock Holmes instead? If that's the case, then head on over to the Lounge to try and figure out Who Killed Mr. Boddy.

Don't forget that participation in any of our activities will earn you tickets to the January Participation Raffle. Now, what are you waiting for? Go show us how good it is to be bad.

Welcome to the Ministry of Magical Arts!

1:10 pm - Julieexann

BOOM! You look around - what was that sound? Fred and George Weasley decided Magenta Comstock needed some help with her New Year's renovations. In true Weasley fashion, they brought fireworks to really open up the new year with a bang! The Arts & Graphics Forum has undergone some huge changes as a result - most notably, we are now known as the Ministry of Magical Arts and our area now consists of three forums for you to enjoy! Our three forums are the Institute of Creative Learning, which will focus on mentorship and education; the Exhibition of Interdisciplinary Artistry, which will house our current challenges, monthly prompts, and now arts-related chatting; and finally, the Comstock Memorial Gallery, which will house all portfolios and stores and will showcase users' artwork.

Of course, our Blotting the Parchment Incentive Program hasn't gone anywhere in our revamp. Come by to join in the excitement to win an Enchanted Paintbrush!

Our monthly challenges may have a new home, but we hope that you set of a firework or two and join in the fun. Pop on over to take a look at our monthly Writing Challenge where we are inviting you to step into the Weasley twins' shoes and recreate a narrative about a hated character. If graphics are more your speed, wander over to our monthly Graphics Challenge where you can design a portrait for a new secret passageway. There's lots for you to explore, including our Monthly Discussion, Prompts, Tutorial, and much more!

1st Place: Wesley Twin Plushies OR Wildfire Whizbangs + 3,000 House Points
2nd Place: 50,000 Galleons + 2,000 House Points
3rd Place: 25,000 Galleons + 1,000 House Points

2:59 pm - Dustball

You've survived another year! That means you've done a years worth of contests with us in the Magical Archives! There's a whole new year ahead of us! New contests await. You certainly know the saying "New Year, new me" and creating your own resolution. Instead of looking back over the last year, why not look forward in Resourceful Resolutions. Even with the start of a brand new year, our favorite poltergeist is still causing trouble. See if you have what it takes to help right the trouble Pesky Peeves has been causing.

Don't worry, this isn't all we have in store for you. There is plenty more to see and do. Check out the Table of Contents to see everything the Archives forums have to offer. Participation in those might just bring you closer to winning the Book of Records.
