Site Safety

7:47 pm - HEX Staff

"You will also find that help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it." - Albus Dumbledore

To paraphrase the quote above, HEX Staff would like to remind all of our users that likewise, help will always be given on HEX to those who ask for it. In saying this, it occurred to us that even now there may be those users who are unaware of exactly how to ask for that help. Should you ever wish to speak one-on-one with any member of the site's Staff, you can find us all listed on the About Us page. To navigate there without the link, you'll need to hover over 'Site' at the top of any page, then click on 'About Us.' On that same menu, there is the option to 'Report'. This can be used to report a bug you may have noticed on the site, to report another user or other rule infraction, or to report a forum or Global Moderator.

Alternatively, you are able to report a specific post in any forum. You simply need to go to the post in question and click on 'Report' which is located between 'Quick-Quote' and 'Share'. These reports are dealt with every day, several times a day, so you can rest assured that yours will be seen and acted upon quickly.

All of these methods are in place to make HEX the safest it can be, for both you the users, and those who work behind the scenes. If you have any questions or concerns, you are welcome to post them in this thread, contact any member of Site Staff, or owl the HEX Staff account.

The Grounds - July Update

Uh oh. Peeves has been at it again. Crude paintings were strewn across the walls, confetti littered nearly every surface, and the room reeked of dung bombs. Peeves needs to be stopped, don't you think? Meet us in the Shrieking Shack to help us formulate a plan to get rid of him once and for all.

Don't forget to put our Watch Thread on watch to be notified of all the news from the Grounds. For example, the Bi-Weekly Chat or the announcement of the Roleplay / Roleplayer of the Month.

Fan Fiction Forum

8:52 am - Cody

"Aurors are the Wizarding World's best defence against the practitioners of the Dark Arts. We're well-versed in offensive magic, because our very lives depend on it. It takes courage, wit and guile. Not many have the stomach for it. Do you?"

From Kingsley Shacklebolt to Nymphadora Tonks to Harry Potter himself, talented Aurors have for centuries been tasked with protecting the Wizarding World against Dark forces. However, individuals just don't happen upon such integral careers; they must earn their spots. Just what tests do Auror hopefuls have to undergo, you might be asking? Well, that's up to you to decide in July's Theme Prompt.

Are you more a reader than a writer? Then head on over to Reader's Digest, where the audience gets to shine! Don't forget to participate in the following activities to earn tickets towards the Monthly Raffle:

Character Journals l Continue the Story | FanFic Con | Guess the Character | Picture Prompt | Writing Circle

And, of course, don't forget that participation in Author's Notes could win you an item that is entirely exclusive to Fan Fiction!

Daily Prophet:: July Edition

3:00 am - athenniene cromwell

Being a school-free month for most students of all ages, July is often known as the time for traveling and other fun stuff to do over the summer. However, all this free-time can quickly lead to an endless month of nothingness. Because of this, we found it only appropriate to celebrate Anti-Boredom Month in this month's edition of the Daily Prophet! Whether you would like to discover a new traveling spot or a new hobby to pursue for both kids and adults, we surely have an article that will help you pass your time without getting bored. So, grab a copy of July's issue and take a look into these exciting activities with us!

Did you miss an edition, or want to re-read your favorite articles? Check out our Official Archives to get your hands on all of the Daily Prophet's former issues.

If you have any concerns regarding the Daily Prophet, please contact Janelle, Mark, or Thene. You may also get in touch with Cody, Karli or Steph from Publications Management.

RPC Teaching Center - July Update

3:00 pm - Pyper

Capes, vivacious color, and lots of great behavior. Well, that's the impression we were going for in the Teaching Center this month. We may have inadvertently gotten ourselves into a right mess, though. Who better to save us all, than a hero?

Firstly, fly down into your initial mission by creating your own hero in I Need A Hero. Once you have established their character and quirks, their mission is to team up with a partner and prepare for an epic battle in our beginners roleplay, A Helping Hero.

Also, our Student of the month is Lily. With some terrifically in-depth analysis of the theme of doubling, she has been suitably rewarded with the title, Student of the Month. Be sure to congratulate her if you see her around. Why don't you too join in the fun in the Teaching Center? Perhaps you could be our Student of the Month next month.

If perhaps you're more of a teaching hero, mentoring may be for you. Pop over and check out our applications and be a hero for someone else.

9:19 pm - Zoe

Accents. We all have one whether we all own up to it or not. No matter what type of accent you have, we invite you to check out the July issue of The Quibbler!

If you have any questions, concerns, or comments about The Quibbler, please either visit The Newsstand or send an owl to Zoe.

If so, you can create your very own constellation in Constellation Creation.

Of course, we also have plenty of other contests to enjoy in the Magical Archives. Check the Table of Contents to see all the currently ongoing activities.
