Site Donations and a Note

1:54 am - John

The way donations work on Hex has now changed. Here are the key changes:

- Donations are now connected to the site from PayPal. What this means is that within 24 hours of making a donation, your account will be properly credited on Hex itself by the server. This allows much more efficiency every month, as well as everyone getting credit in their user info fully for the following month. The automation will also allow for easier distribution of monthly items, earlier on in the month. Just a note: PayPal never discloses your credit card information to anyone, so it is still completely safe/secure. Members have been safely donating to Hex for almost five years now.

- Anyone that is on a monthly subscription of $20 or more a month will have all Google advertisements removed, meaning Hex will be completely free of ads.

Also, anyone that signs up for a subscription between now and March 13th will qualify for June's six month rare, provided they keep the subscription until June.

For more information, the donation page has been completely updated to provide all of the latest information in an easy to read view. Also, the six month rare is being worked on right now.

I also wanted to address something that has been brought up to myself and others with recent events. From me/the administrators, the staff, the global moderators: every single person on Hex has the right to speak their mind and express themselves in any way that they want, provided that it does not break any of the terms/rules (a central one is having respect for others). I find it all too often that some people have success in promoting a view that people are not free to discuss their views, when that is something that we try to promote on a daily basis and is a core component to the way that Hex operates. If you have any questions about this, feel free to contact any person listed on the About Us page. Never should anyone feel afraid/restrained to speak their mind on Hex.

Thank you and more to come!

The Daily Prophet: February 2011

1:56 pm - MuggleBornMegan07

Oh snap! In this issue of the Daily Prophet, we uncover the serious drama that's going on between the popular wizard band, the Weird Sisters. We also discuss the tragic death of a beloved witch, discuss what makes HEX unique, and allow you an inside look on what it's like to be a Daily Prophet writer! Read all of this and more in the Daily Prophet!

Also, we will be putting applications up for an undisclosed amount of full time writers. If interested, please send the following application to MugglebornMegan07 by March 12th:

Name:
Amount of time spent on HEX:
Other responsibilities around the site:
Sample of an article:

There is no prompt on what your sample article should be. Try to make it HEX or Harry Potter related, and remember to have fun with it. Don't be afraid to be quirky!

If you have any general concerns about the this month's issue of the DP, please direct them at either me, Theny, Tori Tendleswift, or Aiden Jakorr. Thanks!

The Quibbler: February 2011

11:41 am - Faye Fenikkusu

This issue, we discuss a dismal truth -- that you are destined to be alone forever. Furthermore, we cover important dating tips (not that they'd help, since you're destined to be alone forever), how to LOSE a Hex guy or girl in ten days (again, not terribly helpful, since you're destined to be alone forever) and the extreme difficulty involved in making chocolate-covered strawberries (eh, I guess this'd help a bit).

And, to create a startling climax, we have discovered a new star and your astrological sign will never be the same! Read it all and more at Hex's #1 source for trufax news!

If you have any questions or concerns about the content of this issue or publication in general, please owl myself, or one of the moderators in charge of publications: Theny, Tori Tendleswift, or Aiden Jakorr. Thank you and enjoy! :D

Helga's Valentine Soiree

8:05 pm - MuggleBornMegan07

Happy Valentine's day! This is the time of year where red, white and pink colors dominate, while love is in the air.

The Hufflepuff Staff extends a warm welcome to all as we take a field-trip to Helga Hufflepuff's House in the Welsh Valley for her Valentine Soiree. There are contests at her house, while her beloved Hufflepuff's Cup will be Silent Auctioned in the Hufflepuff common room, so make sure to check out the common room buy-in thread.

The Whisperer: February 2011

12:57 pm - Aiden Jakorr

In this issue of The Whisperer, we decided it was high time to really investigate what Valentine's Day really means. We bring you our findings, including but not limited to insight into the dynamics of love, the inner workings and emotions of the impending fourteenth of February and all that entails, and the consequences of shipping pairings such as Molly/Bellatrix and Snape/Hermione. Read it HERE.

If you have any questions or concerns about the content in this issue of The Whisperer, please contact Porcelain_Doll, or one of the moderators in charge of HEX Publications: Theny, Tori Tendleswift, or Aiden Jakorr.

Everyone should feel welcome to check out a new addition to the RP Central, which is a monthly group RP. In addition to the RP itself, each month will feature 5,000 galleon prizes awarded to the writer of the Best Post, the creator of the Best Original Character, and the Best RPer. At the end of every month, the winners will be announced and another RP will go up.

This month's theme is Assassin's Creed. If you'd like to take part in the RP, you can find it here.

Winter Layout

3:15 am - John

A new layout, Beginning's End, has been added and is now the default site layout. The layout was made by Jess (Aurora Dior). Great job!

Also, December's donation items have been handed out. They are Bag Of Rune Stones and Frozen Ashwinder Eggs. Invitations were also awarded for all donations. January's will be released in the next few days. See this page for more information about donating and supporting the site.

I also wanted to reiterate from my previous post that the staff have been planning non-stop for more features/interactivity for Hex as a whole. More to come!
