The Ministry of Magic is at it again! This time they have decided that due to safety risks Christmas is bad, and have banned it at Hogwarts. Dolores Umbridge, again reinstated as Hogwarts High Inquisitor, has made sure the castle will be anti-Christmas this term.
Presents will be confiscated, letters to home will be censored. But the students will not take this lying down! As an added...bonus...Slytherin has been chosen to help uphold the Ministry's Decree by making sure everyone is following this new decree.
Come down to the dungeons and join the Slytherin Staff in Educational Decree #225: Terminating Christmas. And also, make sure you pay your way into the common room and chat with us all event long.

The RPC Teaching Center is looking for new tutors, once again. To apply, please direct yourself to this thread, fill out the application, and post it in that thread. Tutors will be taken in an as-needed basis, so there is no closing date for applications as of right now. The thread should have all the information you need, so please go there to fill out the app and for further info!

Santa Daily Money is here! This year, there's a twist. Every time a collection is made, there is a one in three chance that Santa will step in and multiply the galleon amount by ten. Be sure and be nice to Santa and Rudolph.
Also, we are now accepting Christmas Spirit Submissions. More information can be found on the page. We will start approving entries very soon and begin displaying them for everyone to see.
As you probably noticed, the top events now have icons with them based on the type of event. Hopefully this will help for easier identification, particularly with new users. Plus, it spices up the events section as a whole. If you want to switch back to the old event format, simply go to Preferences in myHEX and turn the icons off.

Once again, due to phenomenal growth, we will be upgrading servers within the next 24 hours. This will be the biggest leap the site has ever taken in regard to servers. The process this time will hopefully be pretty painless, as we will be staying with the same server company.
As always, it will take some computers longer to access the site than others. Your patience during this time is appreciated.
Thank you!
Edit: The upgrade was successful! Thanks for your patience!

myHEX has undergone a much-needed facelift. We've trimmed a bit of fat and introduced a few new sections that we think you'll find useful every time you login.
Announcements are now front-and-center, which should keep you always up to date on the latest happenings on HEX. A new section devoted to Item News now resides next to House News. We hammered out some nasty bugs for the Hogfriends Online list that would occassionally result in a name listed twice and introduced a section devoted to your Hogfriends' birthdays for the current month. The Memorable Quotes will soon display some of the great quotes found on our Facebook page along with those that users have submitted, and Minor Updates will include bug fixes and smaller additions that are noteworthy but don't always warrant a full news post.
