7:18 pm - Marluxia

Thought you were done unwrapping your gifts? Think again - the one gift you so desperately wanted, the December issue of the Quibbler, is here! We've tackled a very serious question this issue: who would win in a battle, the Grinch or Voldemort? Could He Who Must Not Be Named be the new face of the anti-holiday spirit? The answer lies within, come and see for yourself!

If you have any questions or concerns about the Quibbler or its content, please owl Marluxia or one of the other publications staff members, Aiden Jakorr or MuggleBornMegan07. Thanks!

Educational Decree #225 - Terminating Christmas

12:36 am - anacrusis

The Ministry of Magic is at it again! This time they have decided that due to safety risks Christmas is bad, and have banned it at Hogwarts. Dolores Umbridge, again reinstated as Hogwarts High Inquisitor, has made sure the castle will be anti-Christmas this term.

Presents will be confiscated, letters to home will be censored. But the students will not take this lying down! As an added...bonus...Slytherin has been chosen to help uphold the Ministry's Decree by making sure everyone is following this new decree.

Come down to the dungeons and join the Slytherin Staff in Educational Decree #225: Terminating Christmas. And also, make sure you pay your way into the common room and chat with us all event long.

Santa Daily Money and Spirit

2:11 am - John

Santa Daily Money is here! This year, there's a twist. Every time a collection is made, there is a one in three chance that Santa will step in and multiply the galleon amount by ten. Be sure and be nice to Santa and Rudolph.

Also, we are now accepting Christmas Spirit Submissions. More information can be found on the page. We will start approving entries very soon and begin displaying them for everyone to see.

As you probably noticed, the top events now have icons with them based on the type of event. Hopefully this will help for easier identification, particularly with new users. Plus, it spices up the events section as a whole. If you want to switch back to the old event format, simply go to Preferences in myHEX and turn the icons off.

Server Upgrade

3:51 am - John

Once again, due to phenomenal growth, we will be upgrading servers within the next 24 hours. This will be the biggest leap the site has ever taken in regard to servers. The process this time will hopefully be pretty painless, as we will be staying with the same server company.

As always, it will take some computers longer to access the site than others. Your patience during this time is appreciated.

Thank you!

Edit: The upgrade was successful! Thanks for your patience!

myHEX 2.0

11:06 pm - HPfanextrm

myHEX has undergone a much-needed facelift. We've trimmed a bit of fat and introduced a few new sections that we think you'll find useful every time you login.

Announcements are now front-and-center, which should keep you always up to date on the latest happenings on HEX. A new section devoted to Item News now resides next to House News. We hammered out some nasty bugs for the Hogfriends Online list that would occassionally result in a name listed twice and introduced a section devoted to your Hogfriends' birthdays for the current month. The Memorable Quotes will soon display some of the great quotes found on our Facebook page along with those that users have submitted, and Minor Updates will include bug fixes and smaller additions that are noteworthy but don't always warrant a full news post.

God Rest Ye, Merry Hippogriffs

12:00 am - HPfanextrm

Christmas Lion PlushieHogwarts Extreme has had a fantastic tenth year full of huge events and new features. As the year comes to a close, there's only one thing left to do-- Celebrate Christmas!

Those of you who are reading this while logged in should have noticed that you received an event at the top of your page about a little house-elf handing you two things: a house stocking and a Christmas Lottery Ticket.

The house-elves have setup a system of stocking-stuffer gift-giving in the Great Hall this year where they do the shopping, wrapping, and delivering for you! Just let them know who you wish to send a stocking-stuffer to, and they'll handle the rest. Those little house-elves will scurry throughout the castle to find your friend and deliver it to his or her stocking. Beginning December 25th through December 31st, everyone will be able to empty the contents of their stockings and open up these special gifts to see what fantastic treasures they've been stuffed with.Slytherin Stocking

Christmas Lottery Card During the month of December, the weekly Lottery will be suspended and replaced with a Christmas Lottery. Normal Lottery Tickets will not work for this lottery. Instead, you'll need to activate Christmas Lottery tickets. Each day during the month of December, a Hogwarts Extreme staff member will create a thread in the Great Hall describing a favorite scene from the books or films and a related prize to add to the lottery. With it will be posted a short task for you to complete within 24 hours. Posting a reply in the thread with the completed task will earn you a ticket towards the raffle each day. Christmas Lottery Tickets can be activated from your Inventory, just like regular Lottery Tickets. On January 1st, the Christmas Lottery will conclude, and all prizes will be awarded.

Two of last year's favorite features, Candy Cane Grams and HEXmas Gift Cards, are back this year as well. The former is available along with the traditional Gift Wrap Paper in Fred's Holiday Store, while the latter may be found in Gringotts. Many existing Christmas items have received the same sort of remake treatment that the Quidditch supplies received a few weeks ago. Keep your eyes peeled for those, and be sure to extend a thanks to our very busy Item Management team. Christmas Spirit Submissions have returned as well, and those sent in will be made available to view through myHEX later this month.A Gift

This year's site-wide Christmas layout was created by Alex, and another new Great Hall-themed site-wide layout was created by Saphy.

Let the festivities begin!
