Even though Halloween isn't till Sunday, we've decided we'd much rather spend the entire weekend celebrating such a fantastic holiday than just a single day, and seriously doubted many of you would complain. For starter's, Fred has restocked his Holiday Store. You should notice the reappearance of a few classic (and rather, *ahem*, expensive) items as well as a few new ones. (He has limited sales to one "pricey" item per person every 24 hours to be sure that everyone has a chance to get something before supplies are gone.)
One new item in particular that shouldn't weigh too heavily on Gringotts account may draw your attention: the Limited Edition Unopened Chocolate Frog. Rumor has it that each treat from this particular set has a slim chance of containing a Famous Vampire Card. Naturally, we've opened none of these ourselves and can neither confirm nor deny their presence; you'll just have to find out for yourself! Fred did mention to us, though, that after a month's time, any that remain unopened will transform back into a regular Unopened Chocolate Frogs. Open while you can!
And finally, keep your eyes peeled for a few random events over the next few days. Apparently, Peeves is running amok again!
Happy Halloween from the HEX Staff and Global Moderators!

October 31, 1981:
Muggle children, dressed as witches, goblins, mummies, and vampires are going from door to door collecting candy. The Great Hall at Hogwarts is decorated with thirteen giant pumpkins, courtesy of the grounds keeper Hagrid and enjoying their Halloween feast. Baby Dudley, dressed as a lion, looks more like a bloated walrus. But in Godric's Hollow
, a family is about to face the greatest terror wizarding Britain has ever seen. Baby Harry sleeps, not knowing that his world is about to be shattered.
Join me and the Ravenclaw Staff this All Hallows' Eve as we present The Potters' Demise
and relive those last fateful days.

The Whisperer is back after a short hiatus, and we are better than ever! Come check out our October 2010 issue where you can see our new articles, staff changes, and revamped look. Beyond that, we discuss the trials of college life, the best ways to watch your favorite horror flicks during this years' Halloween season, the potentially diabolical creatures invading our forums, and the terrors of Calculus.

It's October fifteenth, and you know what that means... time for another edition of the Daily Prophet to materialize! You will be pleased to find that in this issue we cover the recent goblin takeover in Diagon Alley, the sugary sweet truth about "The Toadstool Tales," and something about Draco Malfoy that was so shocking, even Harry Potter would be flabbergasted!
To read about all of the above, and more, check out the Daily Prophet.

As many of you probably remember, we recently accepted nominations for people you thought would be great global moderators. We went through all submissions and thoroughly looked through everything that was said. With that, a total of eight users are now global moderators!
Aaron (aarony02), Chase (Aiden Jakorr), Fy (PheonixFyre), Kailyn (Kailyn), Elizabeth (Jaessa), Erin (Thatsme), Nefa (Nefarious Black), and Jenny (Jenny Green).
In addition to this, Kelly (Tori Tendleswift), is now a staff member!
Congratulations to everyone!

Halloween never seems to go just normally, on Hex or otherwise, but this time around things are especially crazy. We've got a chainsaw massacre, an inside look at how the gmod selection process REALLY goes, and a lot of poking fun at Ravenclaw's current lack of house points.
Enjoy it all on the latest issue of Hex's #1 source for trufax news HERE!

As many of you know, the bottom bar was removed some time ago because it was believed to be the source of a serious problem that slowed down HEX for nearly everyone. Even though it was removed, there still was no immediate significant increase in speed that we expected. A month or so ago, though, one of the main problems causing HEX to slow was found and fixed. (You should all thank Steven for that.)
So, we're up for giving it another try. It may be enabled or disabled as before at the Preferences page. Everyone who previously disabled or enabled it should find the setting has not changed. We'll be monitoring it's impact on the server and the database and decide whether or not it can stay permanently. Consider this another trial run.
You should also be aware that two other old features that disappeared over time have found their way back. You will now see a counter of unread owls in parentheses next to the Owlpost link on the left sidebar. This is a feature that has come and gone more than once years ago. Interdepartmental Memos will also function again as they previosuly did.
Lastly, be sure to check out the new site layout, Morsmordre, courtesy of Xeneixian.
