Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

5:34 pm - John

The release is very near for most of us, so I just wanted to make sure one last time everyone is clear with what is going on.

All information and rules that must be followed indefinitely during the DH release can be found at the link at the top of every page that looks exactly like this:

*** Deathly Hallows Information ***

If you have not read the rules, please do so now.

To clarify, all discussion about the final book should take place within the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Discussion Forums which is linked at the top of every page on HEX.

Enter these forums at your own risk. It is a rule that no titles may contain spoilers, but there is always that small chance a mod may have not gotten to the thread yet.

The moderators will try their best to keep non-DH discussion forums spoiler free, but this is not guaranteed, so view at your own risk.

Lastly, have fun and be safe tonight!

Now Hiring: The Daily Prophet

1:26 pm - Aurora Dior

The Daily Prophet, as most of you know, is a wizarding newspaper. Here on HEX, however, it is a bi-weekly release involving news from around the site and the "wizarding world;" from the latest Quidditch stats to what's really going on in Diagon Alley. Not only are there articles, but also comics, opinions from the readers, and shopping ads to sate any user's pixel-hunger.

If you would like to apply for a position on the Daily Prophet staff, you should note that there are three different base positions to apply for: news writers, sports columnists, and comic artists.

Apply to the Daily Prophet

Applicants should understand that they will be required to submit their assignments on time TWICE a month. Completing segments on time is one of the highest priorities. If you would like to apply for either of the writing positions, a sample of your writing is REQUIRED. For the comic artists, a link to a sample piece is necessary.

ALL applications should involve the following criteria:
- How many hours you spend on HEX each week.
- A sample of your work.
- Anything else you'd like to add.

If you would like to purchase a store advertisement or submit a letter to the editors, please owl them HERE.

If you have any questions not addressed here, feel free to contact Aiden Jakorr or Xeneixian.

New Layout

4:32 pm - John

New layout to celebrate the upcoming release of the final book!

The layout was made by Ashleigh. (charmed_babe88)

Please be sure to read both of mine and Kinken's recent news posts if you haven't already for information on how things will work with the final book.

Also, I want to thank all of you for your patience with all of the crashing lately. The high user volume is causing this, so that isn't a bad thing, but we are trying to fix the issues as quickly as possible.

EDIT: Spoiler tags have now been enabled. You MUST use these when posting spoilers. No exceptions. Also remember that spoilers cannot be posted outside of the designated forums, even if a spoiler tag is used.

You can also manage whether you have to personally highlight spoiler tags or not under "Preference." By default all users will have to highlight spoiler tags to view them.

Spoiler tag format:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

4:13 pm - Kinken

With the release date of the 7th book fast approaching, I know many people are wanting to talk about the book. A few reminders as the date draws near

You may NOT talk about the new book in any other forum other than the Deathly Hallows forum. I know a lot of users are speculating about the book, posting that they have read titles, chapters, or seen this or that. First, please keep any discussions of this nature in the Deathly Hallows forum. Additionally, please remember that anyone posting spoilers or any information of that sort will be put in Azkaban for a minimum of 24 hours.

Please be careful with the content you are posting about for the coming days before the release date, and you will receive additional information about posting with spoiler tags once the book is released. ALL conversations regarding the 7th book must remain in the Deathly Hallows forums.

Thank you for your cooperation so that all Hex users can continue enjoying Hex with all the excitement surrounding the impending release. :)

Educational Decree Number 97

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has come to theatres, and so we, the Contest Coordinators have also returned to the setting of the 5th book for some good old Weasley twin trouble…

If you are in the mood for pranks, stop by the newest contest, located HERE.

Downtime and Information

2:15 am - John

Sorry for the downtime everyone. The error that occurred was very unexpected, and I've gone to the best of lengths to make sure it does not happen again.

You will notice a link at the top of every screen linking you to the movie discussion forum. The link won't be up there forever, but just while everyone is seeing the movie and having thoughts about it.

Movie discussion should be discussed within this forum. Obviously clubs and dorms can do whatever, but please post discussion in this forum and not the main forums. (i.e. Entrance Hall, Great Hall, Diagon Alley, etc.)

About the book release date:
We will be following similar policies that we have for previous book release dates. (books 5 and 6.) Spoiler tags will be enabled very soon.

Here's the run down:
You will only, and I repeat only be allowed to talk about the book in the designated book discussion forums. (links will be provided on release date) All spoilers posted in the designated forums will be REQUIRED to have spoiler tags. (forum code:
text
) Again, spoiler tags will be required even in the designated forums.

Any spoilers at all relating to the final book are not allowed at all outside of the designated forums. This will last for the first few weeks, so HEX users can still freely browse HEX without worry of the book being spoiled for them.

Breaking any of these rules, depending on the severity will result in at least twenty four hours in Azkaban. Be careful what you post about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows because if you do not use spoiler tags in the designated forums or you present spoilers outside of the designated forums anywhere, we will take action.

More information to be provided soon.

Interhouse Competition

7:37 pm - Ninja Kitten

Ever wanted to show everyone what you can do?

Well, now's your chance. As a sign of interhouse cooperation the IHC or InterHouse Competition is back in full swing. We have fresh ideas and new faces helping to kick this thing off the ground.

The IHC will be a series of events in which two teams, Slythedor and Ravenpuff, will be participating together in events.
This event is being hosted by our very own Ministry of Magic and will take place very soon so keep your eyes peeled. Make sure to check out your common rooms in the coming days to figure out how you yourself can participate in this event.

Each house will hold it's own contests to make up their teams. Upon naming their individual teams, they will then work cooperatively with their partner house to make it to the final of the competition.
The two houses of the winning team will then separate to participate in the final series of events and our winner will then be named.

Inter-House Debates

4:38 pm - Hpfanextrm

The next pair of Inter-House Debates have begun. If you are interested in what is happening with the debates, please visit The Inter-House Debate Forum

However, if you enter the debate forum, you MUST read the regulations listed at the top of the page. In this forum, there is a no-tolerance policy. Please be sure to read these regulations upon entering the forum; if you fail to follow these regulations, punishments will be given out.

Snape has Harry's best interests at heart.
Is Harry's Scar a Horcrux?

Enjoy the debates and have fun!

The Wickedest of Magical Inventions

5:15 am - Aurora Dior

Though Hermione's search for information on the Horcrux may have yielded no results, the Contest Coordinators are looking for you to have more luck...perhaps on a par with Dumbledore himself. Yes, your tracking abilities are supposed to be as superb as the greatest wizard of all time. Why would we put such faith in you? Well, for starters, Dumbledore didn't get to decide what the Horcruxes were, what they looked like, and actually make them for the Dark Lord...

See HERE for more information, ye graphically inclined.
