HEX has now been successfully upgraded to PHP 7. This is something many thought was impossible given that some of our code is over seventeen years old. What this means for everyone is even faster page loads, better security, more efficiency, and the possibility for lots of new features in the future that wouldn't have been possible before. This is a major step forward for the site, and I am excited to see what is to come of it.
Like any major software upgrades, inevitably there will be an increase in bugs. Some things may all of a sudden no longer work that did just yesterday. If you experience any new bugs, please report them in this thread. We will work as quickly as possible to get the issues resolved and appreciate your patience in the process.
I want to give a big thank you to Steven, who led the process to make this a reality and put in major hard work and time to make this happen. I also want to thank David, who also has spent a ton of time going through our old scripts and making them ready for the upgrade. Lastly, I want to thank all of the Global Moderators, Junior Staff, Staff, and Administrators that tested this new version and helped work out many of the initial bugs.
Thank you!
