"We teachers are rather good at magic, you know.”
— Professor McGonagall, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

It's your last day at Hogwarts, and the past seven years have gone by so fast. As proud of yourself as you are, a part of you is sad. For the past seven years, Hogwarts hasn't just been your school; it's been your home. There has always been something so comforting about practicing magic while being surrounded by your favorite professors and students. As wonderful as the Muggle world is, nothing quite beats Hogwarts. But how can you just leave all of it behind?

What if you didn't have to leave the breath-taking castle behind? What if there was a way that you could remain inside the walls of the place you'd loved for so long? That's right, why not just work at Hogwarts after you've graduated? This month, as we continue to discuss Life After Hogwarts; we come back to the place where it all began - Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the wizarding school that we all know and love.

Hogwarts has many jobs to offer to its past students. Maybe you've been inspired by a certain professor and would like to try the job out for yourself. But which subject would you teach? Perhaps you'd be better as a Groundskeeper or Caretaker. Do you like books? You could be a librarian and manage the library! There are endless positions, each of which would allow you to stay inside the walls of Hogwarts long after you've graduated.

Questions to get you started:
+ Would you ever consider taking up a position at Hogwarts?
+ If you were to work at Hogwarts, which position would you like to take up? Would you be a Professor, Groundskeeper/Caretaker, Librarian or something else?
+ What is your favourite class at Hogwarts? Would you ever teach this class to future students?
+ Who is your favourite Hogwarts professor? Would you teach in a similar style to them?
+ What is your least favorite class at Hogwarts? If you were offered to teach this class and it meant you got to stay at Hogwarts, would you? Or maybe there's a position you could never imagine yourself doing?

You are not limited to these questions; feel free to discuss anything related to the positions or classes at Hogwarts, as long as you keep the discussion going! Please remember to respect other user's opinions, and to keep everything within the HEX guidelines.

All participants will receive 2 tickets towards the monthly raffle for their first post before March 26 11:59 PM HEX time.

Participation in this event will count towards April’s Book of Records

+ Would you ever consider taking up a position at Hogwarts?

I would as long as Harry didn't work there. I mean, woah.

+ If you were to work at Hogwarts, which position would you like to take up? Would you be a Professor, Groundskeeper/Caretaker, Librarian or something else?

I think the best job for me would be librarian (cause I love books) or I would like to be the history teacher because history has a bad rep at hogwarts and it really is a good and fun class if taught right.

+ What is your favourite class at Hogwarts? Would you ever teach this class to future students?
My favorite class is potions and CoMC. But I would never be able to teach them. Potions is too much like science and while i love it, teaching it is harder than learning. As for CoMC, I like my limbs. So maybe I will sub on some days.

+ Who is your favourite Hogwarts professor? Would you teach in a similar style to them?

I like Sprout and Hooch. They are no funny business professors but they also teach hands on and know that mistakes happen and they don't blow a gasket from such things. Like when Neville passed out, it was no big deal in 2nd year. Things happen, you deal with it and move on.

+ What is your least favorite class at Hogwarts? If you were offered to teach this class and it meant you got to stay at Hogwarts, would you? Or maybe there's a position you could never imagine yourself doing?

I think Arithmancy or Runes. I suppose I would teach these classes if I had to and try my best to make them interesting but it would be hard for me since i find the topics dry. I don't think there is a class I wouldn't do, but there are some I would definitely find boring.

I'm not interested in working at Hogwarts but I do love the school and I am so fascinated by the wealth of magical knowledge in its library , so i think that would entice me to stay and work as a teacher- which would give me unrestricted access to the Library . Sounds a bit like Tom Riddle but i promise i'm strictly interested in the magical knowledge.
Working at the school I would be a teacher and I would teach Defense Against The Dark Arts ( my best subject) .
My favorite teacher was Albus Dumbledore . I like to imagine that I would be open and kind to my students but I would have a very strict discipline like Professor Snape . So I would be more like Snape in the classroom and more like Dumbledore during office hours.
( I like the questions so I'm kinda answering them one by one )
My least favorite ( only because i'm not particularly good at it ) is Transfiguration. I think that I could pass but I would just scrape an O.W.L and would definitely not be moving on to N.E.W.T.s in the subject. As a result I would probably never be hired to teach Transfigurations.

+Would you ever consider taking up a position at Hogwarts?

I feel like that would be my first choice as a profession.

+ If you were to work at Hogwarts, which position would you like to take up? Would you be a Professor, Groundskeeper/Caretaker, Librarian or something else?

Definitely a professor.

+ What is your favourite class at Hogwarts? Would you ever teach this class to future students?

Ok, I can't pick. So my favorites are DADA, Potions, and Arithmancy. I would teach all three if I could, but I most imagine myself as Potions professor.

+ Who is your favourite Hogwarts professor? Would you teach in a similar style to them?

My favorite professor is Remus Lupin. I would teach in a similar style to him as it relates to my subject, considering he is DADA and I am Potions.

+ What is your least favorite class at Hogwarts? If you were offered to teach this class and it meant you got to stay at Hogwarts, would you? Or maybe there's a position you could never imagine yourself doing?

My least favorite class is Divination. I just CAN'T imagine myself as the professor of Divination.

@AmeliaZ Omg right! I love knowledge and I sort of like power too 😇

Hogwarts is like a one-stop shop for all of that. I could save so much Galleons and I bet they have books from all across the magical world. I would start with everything I could find on wandless magic and then let my reading guide me.

My DADA class would probably be a lot like Delores Umbridge's class. My class would be doing all reading so that they stay quiet while i read my book from my library in peace at my desk lol

Would you ever consider taking up a position at Hogwarts? No. I don't like speaking in front of a group of people. When I was in high school, I willingly took failing grades for not doing oral reports.

If you were to work at Hogwarts, which position would you like to take up? Would you be a Professor, Groundskeeper/Caretaker, Librarian or something else? If anything, it would have to be the Librarian position, since anything else would mean I'd have to speak to a class. Or in the case of the Groundskeeper, I'd have to be outside.

What is your favourite class at Hogwarts? Would you ever teach this class to future students? I don't know that I have a favorite class.

+ Would you ever consider taking up a position at Hogwarts?
It is an idea worth considering but I’d have to figure out what that position would be. I have found through experience that my limit in a class is about 8 students.

+ If you were to work at Hogwarts, which position would you like to take up? Would you be a Professor, Groundskeeper/Caretaker, Librarian or something else?
Professor - only for tutoring or other special classes that involve a very small number of students. Groundskeepre/Caretaker - the castle would fall apart in my care Librarian - THAT is definitely something I could see myself doing. Wizarding Phys Ed like Quidditch - nope, I’m not sports minded. Art or music professor is a possibility. Administrative - the school will fall apart withing a week.

+ What is your favourite class at Hogwarts?
That is hard to say because I like everything although I can’t say I excel at anything. On the flip side, I’m not horrid at anything either ... except Quidditch and Potions somewhat. I do well in Art but that’s not a class in Hogwarts; it is an extracurricular activity.

Would you ever teach this class to future students?
Art? Sure!

+ Who is your favourite Hogwarts professor?
Hmmm ... it’s a tossup between Flitwick and McGonagall.

Would you teach in a similar style to them?
Doubtful. My personality isn’t as calm as one nor as stern as the other.

+ What is your least favorite class at Hogwarts?
It’s a tossup between Flying and Potions. I don’t like to not do well.

If you were offered to teach this class and it meant you got to stay at Hogwarts, would you?
No, I do not like to be useless or unhelpful.

Or maybe there's a position you could never imagine yourself doing?
That is always a possibility.
The reason I talk so much to everyone is that people continuously come up with ideas that I wouldn’t have ever thought of on my own.

+ Would you ever consider taking up a position at Hogwarts? Quite possibly
+ If you were to work at Hogwarts, which position would you like to take up? Would you be a Professor, Groundskeeper/Caretaker, Librarian or something else? Librarian could be interesting
+ What is your favourite class at Hogwarts? Would you ever teach this class to future students? I like history of magic best. Possibly, if Binns could be convinced to move on.
+ Who is your favourite Hogwarts professor? Would you teach in a similar style to them? Snape. No way. I dont care for his teaching style. I find the man fascinating but totally disagree with his teaching style.
+ What is your least favorite class at Hogwarts? If you were offered to teach this class and it meant you got to stay at Hogwarts, would you? Or maybe there's a position you could never imagine yourself doing? Transfiguration and nope.

+ Would you ever consider taking up a position at Hogwarts?

Yes

+ If you were to work at Hogwarts, which position would you like to take up? Would you be a Professor, Groundskeeper/Caretaker, Librarian or something else?

I would be a Professor or Headmistress. I love kids, teaching and helping others.

+ What is your favourite class at Hogwarts? Would you ever teach this class to future students?

As I am only in Year 2 at Hogwarts, I will answer with the classes I have had experience with. My favorite classs are Postmortum Studies, Wizarding Law, Hogwarts To 1997 and Wizarding Literature I would definitely teach any of these classes.

+ Who is your favourite Hogwarts professor? Would you teach in a similar style to them?

My favorite Professor was Remus Lupin. He was firm but kind. I also really liked Minerva McGonagall. Yes, she was strict but she had a good heart. Both of these Professors gave their students hands on experience. Yes, learning from textbooks is important but, so is learning from experience.

+ What is your least favorite class at Hogwarts? If you were offered to teach this class and it meant you got to stay at Hogwarts, would you? Or maybe there's a position you could never imagine yourself doing?

My least favorite class at Hogwarts is Cooking With Magic. If it meant staying at Hogwarts, I would find a way to make it more fun/interesting.

+ Would you ever consider taking up a position at Hogwarts?
Yes, if I graduated Hogwarts, I would definitely consider getting a job at Hogwarts. In fact, this is, in my opinion, the best of the jobs we've had so far in this Life After Hogwarts event.

+ If you were to work at Hogwarts, which position would you like to take up? Would you be a Professor, Groundskeeper/Caretaker, Librarian or something else?
I would consider becoming either a professor or a librarian. Even n real life, I always thought that I would make a good teacher, and all of my real life school teachers were "teacher librarians."

+ What is your favourite class at Hogwarts? Would you ever teach this class to future students?
My favorite class is Charms. If I became a professor at Hogwarts, I would like to teach Charms to future students.

+ Who is your favourite Hogwarts professor? Would you teach in a similar style to them?
Since my favorite Hogwarts subject is Charms, I think that Professor Flitwick is one of my favorite professors. However, I also cannot decide if I prefer Professor McGonagall. Maybe my students would not like me much 😋 , because I would teach strictly like Professor McGonagall.

+ What is your least favorite class at Hogwarts? If you were offered to teach this class and it meant you got to stay at Hogwarts, would you? Or maybe there's a position you could never imagine yourself doing?
My least favorite subject is Herbology. (I will explain later)I absolutely cannot imagine myself teaching Potions. I do not think I would be able to handle all the ingredients, like parts of animals, live insects, etc. I like Transfiguration, but I do not really see the point, because you have to learn every single separate spell for each kind of Transfiguring. Um ... and Cooking ... I am very bad at. 😝 I do not know if I will be good at Flying, as I am not very athletic and there are only a few sports that I am actually good at playing. Other subjects I am not keen to teach are: Care of Magical Creatures(I would probably be scared of some of the creatures), Divination(... not really😑), Herbology (NO it is my worst subject, as all of the plants I have ever grown so far have ALL died), and Postmortem Studies (I'm scared). I will gladly teach any of these above subjects, but if there was another professor spot open, I would take those instead.

+ Would you ever consider taking up a position at Hogwarts?
Yes, I would consider it. Besides the fact that Hogwarts in itself is simply amazing and it has never-ending surprises, I think there also is a lot more to learn about the castle as a student for seven years.

+ If you were to work at Hogwarts, which position would you like to take up? Would you be a Professor, Groundskeeper/Caretaker, Librarian or something else?
I think I would choose to have an experience into each position and then settle for the one I would be so fond of the most. As a professor, I would most likely teach Arithmancy or Care of Magical Creatures. Muggle Studies also interests me for some reason. As a Groundskeeper/Caretaker, I get to work around the castle, and though it's tiring work given the sheer size of the place I think being sort of responsible for the well-being and preservation of the historical castle is something. Finally, as a librarian, well who doesn't like books? I'm definitely organized enough to enjoy stacking books back in their rightful shelves, assist students with anything they might need for classes and projects, or sit there at the counter enjoying the library books one by one.

+ What is your favourite class at Hogwarts? Would you ever teach this class to future students?
I love Potions and DADA, as well as Arithmancy and Care of Magical Creatures. Transfiguration is also interesting enough, but perhaps a bit more complex? Like I state above, I would likely find myself applying for Arithmancy and Care of Magical Creatures should I choose to teach in the castle.

+ Who is your favourite Hogwarts professor? Would you teach in a similar style to them?
Professor McGonagall certainly has this aura of authority that everyone just respects and sort of fears, but she's such a competitive teacher as well. I think those traits are important in teaching.

+ What is your least favorite class at Hogwarts? If you were offered to teach this class and it meant you got to stay at Hogwarts, would you? Or maybe there's a position you could never imagine yourself doing?
Probably History of Magic. I was never fond of history, though I do respect it. Perhaps it's the way Prof. Binns was pictured in my mind? But should I ever be put in this position with no other choice then I would perhaps give it a try and give it my best. I think evaluation whether I was good enough for the subject should tell the Headmistress whether the subject is really for me or not.

+ Would you ever consider taking up a position at Hogwarts?
Yes, it would be like dream come true.
+ If you were to work at Hogwarts, which position would you like to take up? Would you be a Professor, Groundskeeper/Caretaker, Librarian or something else?
I would love to be librarian. It is my dream job in real life, and being librarian with magic is even better.
+ What is your favourite class at Hogwarts? Would you ever teach this class to future students?
My favorite class is Charms.
+ Who is your favourite Hogwarts professor? Would you teach in a similar style to them?
Professor Flitwick is my favorite of Hogwarts professors. I would love to have teaching style similar to him.
+ What is your least favorite class at Hogwarts? If you were offered to teach this class and it meant you got to stay at Hogwarts, would you? Or maybe there's a position you could never imagine yourself doing?
Probably Arithmancy, I'm not good with numbers. Sure, I would teach it if it meant staying at Hogwarts. But I can't guarantee that anyone would learn anything

+Would you ever consider taking up a position at Hogwarts? Yes
+ If you were to work at Hogwarts, which position would you like to take up? Would you be a Professor, Groundskeeper/Caretaker, Librarian or something else? I wouldn't want to be a teacher as I wouldn't be very good with kids. I think I'd be interested in a job as Librarian though, as I'd be surrounded by books all day, and in a place that (is meant to be) quiet.
+ What is your favourite class at Hogwarts? Would you ever teach this class to future students? Charms and CoMC. Like I said, I'm not really teacher material.
+ Who is your favourite Hogwarts professor? Would you teach in a similar style to them? McGonagall. I admire McGonagall, and she is everything I would want to be as a teacher, but I wouldn't have the confidence to be like her.
+ What is your least favorite class at Hogwarts? If you were offered to teach this class and it meant you got to stay at Hogwarts, would you? Or maybe there's a position you could never imagine yourself doing? Divination is my least favourite, but I wouldn't dismiss it as a subject to teach (if I had to teach) because I would teach more the history of Divination and what diviners believe, rather than saying it is actually real and genuine.

+ Would you ever consider taking up a position at Hogwarts? I can definitely see myself taking a position at Hogwarts, the castle and it's grounds are beautiful and I wouldn't ever want to leave!!

+ If you were to work at Hogwarts, which position would you like to take up? Would you be a Professor, Groundskeeper/Caretaker, Librarian or something else? My firat choice would definitely be healer/nurse like Madam Pomfrey. I love all aspects of Healing and it would my chosen profession. If I couldn't do this I suppose I could teach?

+ What is your favourite class at Hogwarts? Would you ever teach this class to future students? My favourite class is the Elective Healing and i could see myself teaching this class if my first choice of profession falls through

+ Who is your favourite Hogwarts professor? Would you teach in a similar style to them? My favourite Hogwarts Professor is Minerva McGonagall she is awesome stern but fair and I can see myself teaching with a certain flair similar to hers

+ What is your least favorite class at Hogwarts? If you were offered to teach this class and it meant you got to stay at Hogwarts, would you? Or maybe there's a position you could never imagine yourself doing? My least favourite class at Hogwarts is Astronomy I dont think i could ever teach this class, i would hope i could secure something else within the castle! I could also never see myself as a caretaker chores in real life are a nightmare and that Castle is huge lol 😂😂

+ Would you ever consider taking up a position at Hogwarts?
t would purely depend on the position. I would love to be a Teaching Assistant as that is what I used to do in real life. I would also like to teach children who required a little extra help and who benefited from one on one teaching. I would also love the position of a librarian, but I don't think I could be bothered any more with the standard teaching.

+ If you were to work at Hogwarts, which position would you like to take up? Would you be a Professor, Groundskeeper/Caretaker, Librarian or something else?
I kinda answered this in my above answer but Librarian would be my position of choice. I'd also like to work closely with students providing one on one tuition if possible.

+ What is your favourite class at Hogwarts? Would you ever teach this class to future students?
My absolute favourite class is Arithmancy. I just find it interesting and useful on so many levels. I definitely wouldn't teach it though because it's a difficult subject to teach and it's not to everyone's tastes. People not understanding it would confuse me as I find it difficult to simplify things sometimes.

+ Who is your favourite Hogwarts professor? Would you teach in a similar style to them?
My favourite teacher by an absolute mile is Professor Snape, because I see so many of the teachers I despised in him, but yet, he could definitely teach his subject. I think that Professor Sprout actually had the most effective teaching style and would love to teach in a similar style to her. Having been subjected to Snape style teaching, I know it doesn't work for the majority of people.

+ What is your least favorite class at Hogwarts? If you were offered to teach this class and it meant you got to stay at Hogwarts, would you? Or maybe there's a position you could never imagine yourself doing?
Potions. I am hopeless at science-y stuff and it seems to similar to Chemistry which I struggled with. I don't have an issue working with animal parts and bloods and what not, I just can't do science. I'd also struggle with Astronomy as I haven't a notion about stars in the sky. I can't visualise shapes either.

+ Would you ever consider taking up a position at Hogwarts?
Not really - I'm not really fussed on a job which requires me to be around children all day.

+ If you were to work at Hogwarts, which position would you like to take up? Would you be a Professor, Groundskeeper/Caretaker, Librarian or something else?
Probably a librarian as I love books and it is the only place in Hogwarts where you can evict students for being too noisy!

+ What is your favourite class at Hogwarts? Would you ever teach this class to future students?
Umm I think my favourite class would be Charms, though I do also quite like Divination - I like the analysis that is involved in Divination. I think I would rather teach Divination but I don't think I would like being a teacher - too much work to have to do outside of the classroom (planning future classes, marking homework etc).

+ Who is your favourite Hogwarts professor? Would you teach in a similar style to them?
My favourite Hogwarts Professors are Flitwick and McGonagall. I think if I had to teach I would probably have a similar teaching style to McGonagall. I think the best way is to be strict and stern but also fair. I had a French teacher in school that taught very similarly to McGonagall and it pushed you to work harder because you didn't want to be on the receiving end of her wrath but also because when you did well and got a rare smile or even praise, it made you feel proud of yourself.

+ What is your least favorite class at Hogwarts? If you were offered to teach this class and it meant you got to stay at Hogwarts, would you? Or maybe there's a position you could never imagine yourself doing?
My least favourite class would either be Herbology (I am terrible at keeping plants alive) or Ancient Runes (all of those symbols look the same to me!) I don't think I could teach either either of them but Herbology would probably be worst for me.
