The Black Family lived in the house located at 12 Grimmauld Place. It has been around for many years now. Once Sirius Black was in control of it, he allowed the home to become the headquarters for the Order of the Phoenix with Albus Dumbledore as the Secret-Keeper. After Dumbledore's death in 1997, everyone that was told the location of 12 Grimmauld Place became a Secret-Keeper.

The Middle Ages are a lot different than now. The wallpaper is peeling, the carpets have faded and the furniture is outdated. After a long discussion, all the Secret-Keepers decided that it was in the best interest of the headquarters for the Order of the Phoenix to completely rennovate some of the rooms. That's what your task will be.

Task:

Choose one room that you might find located in 12 Grimmauld Place to completely rennovate. The medium you choose is completely up to you, but it must be something we are able to see visually. To assist you in choosing which room, the Order members have laid out a list of suggestions for you.

Suggested Rooms
Kitchens/Dining Room
Drawing Room
Bedroom/Master Bedroom
Bathroom

Keep in mind, these rooms aren't the only ones you can do. If you have another in mind, feel free to be creative and do that room. There is no need to ask if you can.

Rules:
- Any mediums are welcome, so long as we can see the room visually.
- Owl your Entries to Natalie McDonald before July 10th at 11:59pm HEX time.
- Entries must be PG-13.
- Entries must follow all HEX rules.
- Entries will be judged on creativity.
-Each user can only submit one entry
- Must be your own work.
-If you have any questions please ask them in this thread.

Prizes:
1st - 3000 HP
2nd - 2000 HP
3rd - 1000 HP

Going by this, I'm going to say it is.
It has to be something visual (like drawing, graphics, sculpture)...just something they can see, but they aren't limiting you on the medium to do so.

Yep, what Nicole said is right.
I didn't wanna limit anyone to a specific medium so that everyone was able to do it. As long as it is something we can see visually (like a drawing, sculpture, graphics, etc.) it will work.

Great sounds interesting except I don't do graphics, I can't draw to save my life so there isn't really any other medium.

This contest isn't based on how good you are at drawing. It is judged on creativity. We are not looking for masterpieces. :3 Your drawing skills don't have to be perfect. To actually rennovate a room all that would be required is to draw multiple lines and shapes.

Many people that aren't good at drawing or graphics enter and they usually use paint.

I cannot draw a stick figure to save my life, so I guarantee some of it is based on drawing.

Is it acceptable to write a very vivid, cohesive, and overall well structured description? (Not that it ever is, Hex contests almost always disregard everyone without graphical capabilities...)

This is a graphics/Visual Entries contest so I don't believe you can send in a vivid description.

This is inaccurate. We have a TON of contests that aren't graphic-based. Why, if you look at many Magical Archives contests for the past few months, most of them have been non-graphic. Even the other forums(A&G/CF) host writing and graphics contests both.

If you look at my second to last contest, it was literally just "make a list of things". XD And other Archives contest right now is something to do with writing. Actually, the Archives does tend to do writing-based contests more than anything else, not graphics. You complained about this in my last contest (which is another recent contest from this section of Hex), and I said the same thing. Because, we don't make it all about graphics, even in this one single section of Hex.

I beg to differ. If you do the math, I think you wil see that the majority are writing or roleplay based.

I'm giving this a shot right and failing right now lol. This is why I bought one of those sketch pad things from the dollar store my eraser on my pencils aren't very good and I dare not to do this in pen. Although I feel if I throw the page out I'll be wasting paper. At least there is still a wee bit of time and I"m not doing this in the dead of night like it is now.

Good luck!

For me, when drawing, it's easier to do a couple sketches and then start over on a separate paper for the final while looking at what I tried before. I think it works better, especially when stuck.

Coming back at a later time helps too.xD
