Cheating

a) Bug Abuse - You may never intentionally exploit a bug to your advantage or to another user's disadvantage. If you have knowledge of a bug, then it is your responsibility to report it to the administration.

b) Contests - You cannot share contest answers with anyone. You cannot ask or receive help from anyone on or off of HEX (this includes social media and answer sharing sites). Encouraging others to use online programs to complete puzzles and/or sharing information about said programs is not allowed. All work must be your own.

c) Random Event (RE) Abuse - RE abuse is comprised of any excessive activity that does not actively contribute to HEX or its threads and occurs during a site event. This includes, but is not limited to, repeatedly refreshing a page (e.g., using an automatic refreshing program/browser or doing it manually) or opening several threads or tabs in a row without reading their content. The first instance of RE Abuse will result in a warning, and the items obtained as a result of the abuse will be deleted. Further abuse will result in more serious consequences. For a more complete list of rules concerning REs, and to read the RE FAQ, please see the RE Abuse Policy here.

d) Hacking - You may not hack, attempt to hack, or threaten to hack this site or someone else's account. If you are caught hacking or attempting to hack, then you will be reported to your local ISP in addition to being subjected to disciplinary action on HEX.

e) Homework Sharing - Site homework is meant to be an individual effort. You may not ask for help from other individuals on or off the site. All answers can be found within the lesson texts, and any questions should be directed to a Magical Education Moderator. If you are caught cheating on homework, then you will be subject to having all of your homework points removed.

f) Plagiarism - Plagiarism is defined as the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own. This includes, but is not limited to, parts or entire pieces of: artwork, graphics, coding, and/or writing. Plagiarism also extends to work that is found off of HEX, such as images or text created by others, and can be accessed via external sources (e.g., search engines, books, Wiki pages, etc.). HEX offers all users a creative outlet to explore writing, design, and artwork. As such, plagiarism is strictly prohibited and will be dealt with both swiftly and severely.

g) AI-Generated Content - Artificial Intelligence or "AI" tools such as large language models and generative networks are not allowed to be used as a substitute for your own work on HEX. It is a key expectation of all users who participate in site activities that the work you produce is by your own effort, including text, images, audio, and video. As such, intentional use of any content that was created by AI programs but claimed as your own is a form of cheating and will be handled accordingly. While AI grammar and spelling checkers that suggest or rewrite large portions of original work are not allowed, grammar or spelling checkers are still permitted so long as their usage is limited to correcting minor typos and grammar errors.
