New Hex Merchanting Rule

10:06 pm - MuggleBornMegan07

Scamming/Stealing:
In the past, the HEX Staff has taken a hands off approach when dealing with item transactions/ownership. While we still will not return money or items in transactions gone bad, we are going to take certain steps to try and prevent the users from being scammed. If you are caught holding a scam contest for any reason, we reserve the right to intervene. Punishments for proven scams will not be taken lightly. Please remember that items traded or sold are still to be buyer beware, and will remain so into the foreseeable future.

Borrowed items (eg: sword, spork, ect) must be returned. You may not attempt to keep/sell a borrowed item. In the instance that you do so, the item will be taken from your inventory and given back to the rightful owner. The HEX Staff needs to see proof that the item is, in fact, borrowed. When loaning out items you should do so publicly, so that if the occasion arises and the borrower tries to claim your item as their own, the proof is right there. This means that the exchange should be handled in a thread that can be used as reference.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

1:12 am - John

With the release of the movie very near for most of us, certain policies have been implemented to ensure that the movie is not spoiled for anyone. They are:

- If you are posting outside of the DH Part I Discussion forum, you must use spoiler tags. The spoiler tag function is in red in the reply box (
your spoiler text
). Titles of threads may not contain spoilers, period.

- If you are posting within the discussion forum (listed at the top of every page), feel free to post any spoilers without the spoiler tags (including titles). Because of this, enter the discussion forum at your own risk.

We will get a picture thread going, so take pictures at the midnight premiere or whenever you go if you get the chance!

Have fun seeing the movie!

Accepting Applications - Witch Weekly

10:31 am - Aurora Dior

What is Witch Weekly?
Witch Weekly is an up-and-coming magazine for HEX. It will be quite different from other publications, because instead of an issue by issue format, it will lay out more like a blog, updated on a day to day basis. In canon Harry Potter, Witch Weekly is a magazine that targets women and has content to reflect this.

Why Witch Weekly?
Why?! Because gossip is hot and judging by the looks of things around here you could all use some fashion guidance, advice about your love lives, and some tips on how not to poison your children when you bust out the pots and pans. Oh yes, I said it. You won't believe what we have in store.

For those that require a more intelligent answer to satisfy your curiosity, we'll get philosophical on you: Why not?

Wow! Where Do I Sign Up?!
If you're ready to bust out that quill and start scribbling articles (and why wouldn't you be) you can send your application to Witch Weekly, BY NOVEMBER 30TH, 11:59PM (HEX TIME)...via owlpost, of course. But wait, maybe you should read the fine print:

Only serious applications will be considered, a written sample is required. Your submission should be grammatically checked and display the pizazz that can be expected of you. You should include in your submission a full length article in the style of Witch Weekly (this means, it should be something you think the magazine would publish).

The staff will be required to submit their segments on time and on a regular monthly basis. This really is a must. Completing what you are assigned on time is just as important as doing a good job on it, so please consider whether you really can keep up with the responsibility when you apply.

Last But Not Least!
Any questions you have can be owled to Aurora Dior, or posted in this thread. Preferably posted in the thread (so it can help other people).

If you don't have time for a commitment, but would like to submit articles as a reader submission for possible publication, feel free. But please label your owl to reflect this.

Hallows VS Horcruxes

12:16 pm - Aiden Jakorr

An inherent will to live is part of what defines us, and the quest for immortality has dominated human thought for time untold. What kind of person are you? What path would you seek to gain invincibility?

On one hand, the Deathly Hallows...are you good enough to unite the trio and become master of death? Or would you take a turn for the worse, and sacrifice your own humanity to become immortal? Could you rip your soul into pieces to create a Horcrux, or even multiple Horcruxes?

Now is the time to decide, but choose your path wisely! Join the Slytherin staff as we debate...Hallows vs. Horcruxes!

Also, don't miss your chance to chase a unique opportunity to venture down into the dungeons on your quest! For the duration of the event you will be able to gain access to the Slytherin CR where you will find even more epic activities we have created for your benefit...if you're brave enough to walk that road! More information can be found in the event forum.

The decision is yours. The time is now. Which will you choose?

Remembrance Day

3:31 am - sarah74656

In many countries around the world, today is known as Remembrance Day, Poppy Day or Armistice Day. Today, we remember the sacrifices of those who have given their lives and continue to risk their lives for their country, for freedom, and for peace.

Whether your country commemorates Remembrance Day or not, today is a day to be thankful for all that every single member of the Armed Forces sacrifices for all of us.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
