Welcome to the first Bi-Weekly chat of April. This month, we are going to be talking about Wizarding Schools. For the first chat, it will be purely Harry Potter-related. We want to know which school you would rather go to. Which Headteacher would you rather be a student under? Which school would you like to teach at? Do you think any of the schools would pass an OFSTED inspection? Would you update any of the school rules? Let us know all about it.

Please remember that all HEX Terms apply. In addition to this, if your first post meets the minimum standard of three sentences, you will be eligible for a ticket to our monthly bi-weekly chat drawing for House Points, as put forth in this post. All posts for this chat are due by 11:59 PM on April 20th, HEX time, to be eligible for the drawing.

I think I'd love to attend Ilvermorny. I've always wanted to explore America and this would give me a chance to. When it came to teaching, I think Uagadou or Durmstrang would be interesting. You get students from a wide spread attending those schools and that would be great! I definitely don't think any of the schools would pass any inspections though. Hogwarts definitely wouldn't; especially if Harry Potter was still a student when they visited!

Hogwarts of course! It's the best Wizarding school. My favourite Headmaster is Dumbledore but I love McGonagall too so either of those would be great - although I think McGonagall may be a lot more strict that Dumbledore was as Head. I think Dumbledore gave the students a lot more freedom, to be themselves, to make mistakes and more importantly to learn from those mistakes, but he always had an inkling of what was going on. In that sense I think he was the best Headmaster. I doubt that Hogwarts would pass an OFSTED inspection, but perhaps a school like Beauxbatons would. They seemed like a more disciplined, less wild school. I'm not sure about updating school rules, but I'd definitely sack Filch!

I would pick Hogwarts...followed closely by Durmstrang. As far as headteacher I would pick McGonagall. She would put up with a lot of stuff that went on there. If I were in charge I would have expelled Harry.
I would not want to teach. I don't like being around children for any length of time. If I were to teach it would be Durmstrang. I am fascinated by the dark arts.
I have no idea what OFSTED is. I assume it is some way of judging if a school is doing what is supposed to.

If I were attending a wizarding school my first choice would be Hogwarts and Dumbledore would be my first choice for a headmaster. If I was going to teach, I think I would want to be at either Hogwarts or Ilvermorny. I’m not sure they would pass an OFSTED inspection though. As for making changes to the school rules I can’t think of any I would change at the moment.

I would want to go to Hogwarts with Dumbledore as Headmaster . I would choose to teach their too because there doesn’t seem to be a minimum requirement in subject competence 😂

Hogwarts would definitely not pass OFSTED. Umbridge was like Uber OFSTED and we all saw how that went down.

If I was going to change anything, I let girls wear trousers and reevaluate some teaching positions to improve student engagement, enjoyment, and results.

We want to know which school you would rather go to.

Definitely Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, with so much to learn and explore inside and outside the Castle.

Which Headteacher would you rather be a student under?

Professor Albus Dumbledore, without question.

Which school would you like to teach at?

If they would have me, I’d like to teach at Beauxbaton Academy of Magic, where I might learn some social graces.

Do you think any of the schools would pass an OFSTED inspection?

Probably not, and the Inspectors would most likely have a conniption, then they’d have to have a Memory Charm performed to forget they were even there!

Would you update any of the school rules? Let us know all about it.

No, part of the charm of Hogwarts is that it is old, and somewhat ramshackled and some of the classes have a sense of danger and excitement about them. And that includes the Quidditch, Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology. Plus the Great Lake and the Forbidden Forest.

The Headteacher I would rather be a student under would most definitely be Professor Albus Dumbledore. He is more Muggle-born friendly. I would love to teach at Hogwarts, and maybe do a semester at Ilvermorny, if they would let me. I don't think any of the schools would be able to pass an OFSTED inspection, whatever that is. As for the rules, I would maybe have instead of detention for students, except in reasonable outcomes, students would have to volunteer their time in whatever class they misbehaved in, or in the library, help Madam Pince with the books, etc.. or help Madam Pomfrey with making healing potions/herbs/etc.

I feel like I know Hogwarts a lot and I like to explore new things. So that's why I'd probably go to another school. Mahoutokoro in Japan sounds pretty interesting so that would be my choice.

Which Headteacher would you rather be a student under?
Minerva McGonagall. I like that she's passionate and empathetic but also fierce.

Which school would you like to teach at?
Either Castelobruxo or Mahoutokoro. They both sound so interesting.

Would you update any of the school rules?
I can't think of any changes.

I think I'd rather go to Hogwarts or Ilvermorny. They both sound incredibly interesting. Although Ilvermorny seems a bit more technically advanced.

Which Headteacher would you rather be a student under?
McGonagall would be an amazing role model, and an incredibly fair judge in all issue. I think Headmaster Dumbledore would have been an awesome choice as well.

Which school would you like to teach at?
I think I'd like to teach at Ilvermorny or Beaubatons, I just like the environment, and want to be less secluded. Additionally, Ilvermorny seems more modern compared to some of the other schools.

Do you think any of the schools would pass an OFSTED inspection?
Well I had to look up what this was, but I don't think any magical school could pass, that's why they have their own governing body, they have special consideration and restrictions.

Would you update any of the school rules? Let us know all about it.
I would like to see them to be more modernized!

I think I would like to go to either Hogwarts or Mahoutokoro. If I had to teach, then probably Hogwarts. I'm not sure which subject I'd pick though... I'm not really sure any magic schools would pass an OFSTED inspection in the sense of keeping order haha, but I think they would do ok in terms of showing students passing and achieving ^_^

I would choose to go to Castelobruxo. This wizarding school in Brazil is noted for magizoology and herbology. That makes sense, because this region is rich in biodiversity. Since I would love to study those subjects and work to conserve the natural world, including magical and non-magical wildlife, this would be the school for me!

Having learned that some of the schools are known for certain subjects, I wonder whether there are prospective students who make choices based on what they want to study versus which school is closer to their home (or where their parents went). I'm guessing not, and I'm sure all of the schools provide a quality education. I think there are opportunities for school heads to recruit faculty from other wizarding schools, and in this respect they can get teachers who have a broad, rich background in their subject, which may enhance the experience at their new school.

I would choose Hogwarts. Dumbledore would be the headmaster I would want to learn from. He was such an amazing wizard, So much to be learned from him. If I was to teach at a school it would be at Hogwarts.

It would have to be Hogwarts for me. I couldn't pass up being in Scotland, knocking about the castle and visiting the Room of Requirement, and taking classes from McGonagall and Flitwick and yes...even Snape. And I'd love to have Dumbledore as Headmaster. I could probably do without Peeves, though...
As for where I would teach, perhaps Ilvermorny...

Well, the language barrier would restrict me to Ilvermorny and Hogwarts (I'm barely proficient in French, and I'm not sure any of the schools have Spanish as a primary language). Between the two, well, I'd love to go to Scotland! But then there are the practical reasons of everyone hating Slytherins, so I might be better off in Massachusetts.

Welcome to the second Bi-Weekly chat of April. We're still focusing on Wizarding Schools. However, for this chat, we're going on a trip across fandoms. Which fandom's School of Magic would you like to attend? How do you think these other fandom schools compare to any Harry Potter-related ones? Are there any particular classes at one of these other fandom schools that you would enjoy attending? What do you think would happen if a cross-over occurred and either the other fandom students come to Harry Potter schools or the Harry Potter students go to other fandom schools? We're interested to know what you think!

Please remember that all HEX Terms apply. In addition to this, if your first post meets the minimum standard of three sentences, you will be eligible for a ticket to our monthly bi-weekly chat drawing for House Points, as put forth in this post. All posts for this chat are due by 11:59 PM on May 4th, HEX time, to be eligible for the drawing.

The only other fandom school I can really think of is Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. I'd definitely rather go to Hogwarts, since Xavier's regularly gets attacked and its students endangered, kidnapped or worse. Besides which, the world in general is just safer for magic kids in the HP verse. The school itself would be really cool to attend (depending on your mutation), but the marvel universe is just a disaster inside a garbage fire. I think a crossover could be hilarious, but might just be odd. It would depend on which characters crossed over. A lot of mutants wouldn't really fit in at Hogwarts, especially those mutated specifically to deal with the modern world.

I would probably want to go to Hogwarts or one of the Harry Potter schools over any other magical school (I also don't know of too many such schools at the moment). The only one that I can think of is the Kane Chronicles. A crossover with that could be interesting. I think that the wizards would win, unless if the magicians had the support of their gods, in which case they might be more powerful.

The only other magical fandom I know is The Worst Witch. There are quite a few similarities between the subjects at Hogwarts and Miss Cackle’s Academy but the academy is only for witches. Out of the two, I’d prefer to attend Hogwarts. I think that the castle has a much nicer atmosphere.

Although I’d prefer Hogwarts, I was able to empathise with the central character in The Worst Witch. Mildred Hubble is a clumsy girl who is frequently getting into sticky situations. Obviously, as boys aren’t allowed, a crossover couldn’t really happen but I would find it funny to read about Mildred at Hogwarts.
