Madam Hooch surveyed the sea of students entering the stands. The cloudy day didn't appear to be dimming any of the enthusiasm for the first match of the season. "Pay attention!" she urged the onlookers. "Conditions are clear and without the sun glaring in your eyes, you should be able to enjoy all the action." As a thought hit her, she added, "Remember, when I say 'a nice, clean game,' that applies to all of you as well!" With that, she turned her attention back to the waiting players.

It felt strange to not be dozens of feet up in the air, lifted by magic and borne by the breeze. A sense of emptiness filled him the moment he departed from the sport, as if his very soul, like a self-inking quill, had written its final line, soon to be discarded. For as long as he could remember, Yuu Takano had always played Quidditch, had always been among the cerulean blurs that conquered the sky. And yet, here he was among blades of yellowing grass, as forsaken as a fallen leaf.

Pushing aside the dull ache in his chest, an unfortunate side effect of his yearning for the game he dearly missed, Yuu directed his wand at the sky and whispered a spell. At his command, a private patch of sky darkened into a screen of deep, rich blue. Tendrils of pale lilac drifted into focus, twisting into cotton-candy clouds. Modest stars shied away from view, hiding from demanding eyes that glared and stared without reason. If anything, the dim setting was top-notch spectating condition, simply perfect for a date.

Yuu leaned forward to smooth down the wrinkles upon the checkered blanket, supporting his weight with both hands and knees. With the last corner eased into place, he crossed his legs at the ankles and glanced at the teams, wondering at which point that comrades began to become strangers.

A sense of disconnect met Chase as she made her way across the lawn, as if her heart had evacuated her chest at the entrance to the pitch. Her longing for the sport had been forcibly silenced, suffocated by the mountain of blankets and pillow in her arms. You're just sitting this one out. That's all. Chase nodded at the thought, desperate to convince herself that it really was just this once. She staunched the sharp stab of regret before it could ever hope to ensnare her with its thorny tendrils, focused instead on the delectable silhouette of her boyfriend.

"Front row seats and everything." She dropped her fluffy burden beside Yuu and his checkered blanket. "We might even get lucky and catch a few drops of Bludger blood here." Chase dragged one foot along the painted white line which indicated the edge of the playing field, doing her best to avoid glancing over at her — no, Marissa's — team. After taking stock of her bounty, she lowered herself onto their quilt, pulling her legs beneath her. Chase spent several long, silent moments arranging pillows into a sort of nest around them at a perfect angle for viewing Yuu's makeshift movie screen.

She settled back into the mound, relaxing into Yuu's shoulder. Once comfortable, and despite her best efforts, her gaze slid, of its own volition, across sprawling emerald blades to her friends in blue. A dull ache radiated from somewhere deep in her chest, something like a splinter that had lodged its way in and began to fester beneath her skin. Before she could stop them, quiet words tumbled from her traitorous tongue. "This feels strange, doesn't it? Not being over there, I mean. Not being—" on the team. Chase couldn't will herself to say it, choking on the thought like an ice cube, accidentally swallowed whole.

The taste of Marissa's lips still lingered on his as Jesse made his way to the stands. He knew it was still early, so it was no surprise that he was one of the first to plant his toosh on the cold, metal benches. Reaching down to smooth the sapphire jersey, his mind flipped back to the previous night. When he went to open the door, the last thing he'd expected was to see her there, eyes aching with a pain he knew all too well.

His heart still stung thinking of the part he played in her break up, but as much as he tried to convince himself that he would go back change it if he could, that was complete bull shit. He wouldn't change that weekend for the world. Since the moment he dropped her off at the train, he could hardly keep his mind from wandering back to what she was doing, longing to kiss those beautiful, soft lips just one more time.

Well, he got his wish. A whisper of a smile played at Jesse's lips as his gaze slid down to the field where Marissa, Liv, and the rest of the team were preparing to taken flight. Concentrating all his energy, he sent them more luck through the air. It was very strange to be rooting against his own house, but for that girl, he'd do practically anything.

Grimacing up at the dull grey of the sky, Kali made her way down to the Quidditch pitch and through the stands, attempting to find a clear section for her and the team. Well, that was easy, she thought as she picked out an area high in the stands that was certainly large enough for her team, and more. The stands were still fairly deserted, a site she rarely saw outside of practice. It was rare for her to be so early to a match, but today was special - she knew she had to be there before the teams came out.

Adorned in jeans and a large blue sweatshirt, a gift she'd received from Morgan while they were still dating to wear to Ravenclaw matches to show her support, Kali sat on the cool metal seats and waited anxiously. She'd promised him she'd wear the sweatshirt a few weeks before, but she had no idea at the time what it would actually mean. The past few weeks had been eye-opening to Kali, and as she sat there, temporary blue streaks lining her hair as a sign of extra support, her heart started to race. She knew she had to talk to him again, but the words still needed some tweaking.

For now, however, she would just have to sit back and enjoy the game. Try and let the thrills of Quidditch distract her. She could talk to Morgan after the game.

Rikki looked up at the sky with excitement for the first match. The breeze blew on him as he approached the quidditch stadium, wanting to cheer for his house that was playing against Ravenclaw. After reaching the stadium, Rikki's stomach grumbled. "Ugh, I should of grabbed a bite to eat before I left the castle." He said to himself. A aroma filled his nose. It was the smell of the snacks at the concession stand. Rikki approached the stand and ordered a handful of pumpkin pastries, and a few souvenirs for the game. After gathering everything, he headed for the Hufflepuff side of the stands and looked for a seat.

There weren't many people there which was a sign he must of been early to the game. Rikki knew that finding a good seat must be easy for him because of this. He went to the highest part of the stand and sat down. He nibbled on a pumpkin pastry and waited for the game to start.

"With one monster-sized picnic basket in tow, Kip weaved his way through the stands. His neck craned to double and triple check how the view was from wherever he moved. After all, this was his little sister's first actual game and he wanted the best view of it. He'd thrown on a bronze and blue house-colored sweater and some similarly shaded joggers; his partially curly blond hair loosely tied up in a sort of blond palm tree atop his head. As he meandered from row to row to get to close enough yet high enough for that perfect view, anticipation rose in his chest while curiosity called him to question how much the team had changed since his time. Per Laura, it: "wasn't quite the team he'd described."

"The team I described huh?" He mumbled as he picked a spot just a few rows up and behind the front to set up camp. While casting a giant blanket out over the seats, he wondered what that meant. Grey eyes flickered from side to side before noticing that the corners of his glasses where starting to get a little foggy. With one quick motion, he took them off and removed the foggy bits with the edge of his sweater before settling them back on his face. Kip gave one last long look at the pre-game pitch before taking his seat; tucking the massive picnic basket between his legs on the floor before him and settling in to watch what he felt would be quite the interesting game.

Xan found her way to an empty seat. She was excited to see the first Quidditch match of the season. The cloudy autumn day reflected her life lately, but at least she was out of her room. She thought to herself, "a game of quidditch should cheer anyone up right..." Xan looked around to see if she saw anyone of her friends, actually more like hoping she didn't see anyone she knew.

She just wanted to enjoy the match without having to socialize. She knew her friends had her best interest at heart and truthfully they did always make her feel better.

She opened her pumpkin juice, and her pumpkin pastry, "I am feeling so October right now" she said to herself and smiled. After taking a bite of her pastry and a sip of her drink, Xan started to feel a little better. " Maybe this is just what I needed to try and get out of this awful funk" she thought.

She took a deep breath, slowly filled her lungs with the crisp autumn air, and exhaled.
She was ready for the match to being, and hoping for a Hufflepuff win!

The thick gray clouds rolled overhead, darkening the pitch and any other day, Yunalesca's mood. Today was different. It had been two years since Hogwarts and she proudly came back to support her little brother and his announcer debut. Warmth filled her chest and colored her fair cheeks knowing he had a foot in the door to do his passion. Hazel eyes scanned the stands for an optimal view of the booth. Who cares about Quidditch?

She never really understood the game. Too many rules. Too many balls. It was really just exhausting keeping up with thag many players high up in the air. Wizards Chess was more her speed. "Pardon me," she chimed squeezing past a familar face. A familiar face? Her heart pounded hard in her chest as she turned to see that handsome face. "Jesse? Hi."

It had been six months. She had thought she'd never see him again, but this... this was just awkward. But she had to know why he was here. His sister no longer attended. His family in America and his friends had graduated with him. Firmly planted in the aisle, curious eyes took in his face. "What are you doing here?"

Waves of thick, black hair swept past him as he continued to gaze across the field at the clump of blue robes, likely strategizing before floating up into the clouds. The scent of vanilla mixed with lemon hit his nostrils only seconds before that sing-song voice softly graced his ears. But that wasn't possible...why would Yuna be here?

Jesse slowly turned his head and immediately waves of despair, infatuation, confusion, and heartbreak smacked him in the face when he saw her. After 6 months of trying to keep himself together, he suddenly came undone with just a simple word. His name fell from her lips and his heart ripped in half all over again.

His voice was lost to him, lips forming words, but the sound still buried somewhere deep in his soul with all the memories and emotions he'd finally been able to calm. Clearing his throat, he tried again, but the only thing that came out was her name. "Yuna."

Kirin stretched out in his yellow and black pattern bed sheets in his dorm. He got up and rubbed his sleep off his face. He glances over at the calendar, spotting it was October 1st and it meant one thing... Quidditch! It was a match between the sapphires and his own house. He jumped off the bed and got dressed quickly. He also made sure to grab a yellow flag showing the Badger. He brushed his long beautiful hair as white as snow.

Kirin rushed downstairs, grabbing a few breakfast food on the way, and then he was out of the castle. He stopped and took a deep breath. He glanced up at the cloudy sky and no rain in sight. He hoped it was going to be a perfect day. He munched his breakfast as he resumed moving toward the field where the match held. He finally reached his destination and stopped once again. He took in the yellows and blues though he noticed a few reds and greens among them. He smiled softly at this.

Kirin took a deep breath and started to enter into the Hufflepuff stands and climbed up until he reached the top. He wanted a very good view of the players in front of him. He finally finished his breakfast just as soon as he took his seat. He dusted himself off and brought out his flag. He started to wave it excitedly as he was waiting on the match to start.

Fallon O'Reilly paced back and forth impatiently in front of the bench. It was causing her all sorts of anxiety not to be flying with her team today. To be so close, and yet so far... Yet she knew she should count herself lucky. Since her head injury in the second week of term Madam Pomfrey had been watching her like a hawk, and she knew she was getting away with a lot even being on the sidelines.

Resettling darkly-tinted aviators between the strands of violet hair flowing past her ears, she huffed and plopped gracelessly onto the end of the bench beside her reserves. The sooner the game started, the better. Then at least she could focus on the match and stop stewing over her own misfortune. She'd just have to trust that Jaina could keep them together in the sky. Not that she'd have recruited her for anything less than excellence, but still.

With a lingering sigh she gazed at the two groups of brightly-robed players preparing to actually play today. The beginnings of a frown tugged the corners of her mouth further down as she realised there was an important face missing from the Ravenclaw lineup. Where was Chase? In fact, now that she had noticed, there were several familiar figures absent from the usual group. Maybe she was just confused? She was pretty badly concussed, after all...

Shaking her head to clear the fuzz that constantly threatened to unsettle her, she turned her head and looked toward the stands for a glimpse of her girlfriend. She wondered if Mack would be sporting the same black and yellow paraphernalia as her in support today, or if it was a little early in their relationship for that. A little pout added to the mess of sulky emotions on her face. Either Mack wasn't here yet, or her eyes were also failing her. No - there was Kali, punctual as always. Fallon sighed and shifted her focus back to the players huddled nearby. Bring on the match.

Potts climbed out of bed and looked out the window. It was autumn and the leaves were already turning to reddish browns and oranges. It was slightly cloudy and there was a gentle breeze blowing. He didn't have anything to do that day so he decided he would go and watch the Quidditch match between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw to fill in some time. After washing he got dressed and grabbed some warm clothing as the weather was very unpredictable at this time of year and could change very quickly. He decided to get something to eat for breakfast once he got to the pitch.

Potts arrived at the Quidditch pitch only to find the match hadn't started. He grabbed an armful of doughnuts and a couple of butterbeers from the Ravenclaw's food stand and proceeded to climb the stairs to the spectators stand. When he reached the stand he found that he needed to pass through a group of Hufflepuff supporters to reach his seat. Pushing through the Hufflepuffs, unbeknown to Potts, he was dropping sticky doughnuts on the Hufflepuff supporter's robes and spilling butterbeer on the group of Hufflepuff students in the row below him. Finally, he reached his seat. He was just about to sit down when he saw the referee come out onto the pitch. "Good," he mumbled, "The match must be getting ready to start." Potts jumped up and screamed, "GO RAVENCLAW," at the same time tipping the rest of his butterbeer over the poor unsuspecting Hufflepuff student sitting next to him.

Potts realised he was sitting amongst a very large passionate group of Hufflepuff students. He didn't want to cause trouble before the match had even started so he yelled even louder than before, "GO HUFFLEPUFF!"

Would she risk it? Playing with a head injury… she better dang not. Mackenzie Bowers thought, rushing to the stands, shuffling her feet as fast as she could. Thoughts kept swirling inside her with every step she took closer to the Pitch. Images of Fallon zooming to her heart’s content in the air kept threatening to overtake her. What if she gets hit with a Bludger? Or falls off her broom? Ugh, why didn’t I see her this morning….

Feeling her palms begin to sweat with worry, Mackenzie practically ran to the Gryffindor side of the stands, in search of friends or fellow teammates to sit with. Sporting a yellow sweatshirt in honor of her girlfriend’s team, even going so far as to bring yellow and black pompoms, Mack began heading towards Kali in the distance.

As she walked, she couldn’t help but look at the lineup. Glancing at the Hufflepuff lineup, she was pleasantly surprised not to see Fallon’s name. Taking a minute to catch her breath, Mack suddenly felt more calm than she had all day. After a few deep breaths, she finally made her way to Kali and sat with her.

“Great day for Quidditch, isn’t it?” Beaming towards Kali, Mack felt her excitement finally start to kick in. She was more ready than ever for the match to start, gearing up her pompoms in anticipation.
