MONTHLY MUSINGS

Have you ever wanted to discuss social media with fellow social media fans? Well, now is your chance! This is where you can talk about whatever you want - social media related or not. We'll even help you by giving you inspiring conversation starters!

What will all this chatting get you, you ask? At the end of each month, we will randomize for two Vesor Socialis spells. If you have the spell, don't worry! We will have 15,000 galleons ready and waiting for you!

Things to Note:
• HEX terms still apply to all posts.
• Your initial post will count for a ticket but feel free to chat more!
• We will randomize winners for two Vesor Socialis spells at the end of each month. If you have the spell already, you will get 15,000 galleons.

If you have any questions or suggestions for chats, please feel free to reach out to any member of the Social Media team.

So what are you waiting for? Get chatting!!

CURRENT TOPIC

At the start of the month, we talked about photo editing software, and the negative effects it could be having. For the second half of the month, we wanted to bring you something more positive and light-hearted. So let's talk about filters!

For this discussion, our topic is filters used on apps such as Snapchat and Instagram! I'm sure you're aware of their existence, even if you may not have used them yourself (guilty as charged). They are a fun way to liven up your photos and create all sorts of wacky images. As social media apps grow in popularity, the range of filters available seems to grow exponentially. We we want to hear your thoughts on the subject, so here are a few questions to get you started:

Do you use filters; or have you ever seen someone else using one? Which types of filter are your favourite to use/view? Why do you think their popularity only seems to keep growing? If you had the chance to design a new fun filter, what would it be?

These questions are meant to get your minds pondering the topic; they are not meant to limit you. Make sure to keep checking this post - we will post a new topic for discussion twice a month!

It varies on the social media platform. I would say that I enjoy accounts that have funny memes or inspirational stories. Though, I would say that I was nostalgic because I like to see things that remind me of good times. Additionally, I like to watch fan-made videos about pairings, typically ones that are crossovers because they are well put together and let me see characters that would work well together if they were in the same universe. Otherwise, I am generally drawn to pages or accounts based on the colors that are used or how they are formatted.

I enjoy anything with food and funny memes, when it comes to Facebook and Instagram! I'm always browsing through a Facebook group for foodies in my country (the group name is Let's Eat Pare), and I love love looking at the food lol. I'm also a YouTube watcher, but I usually watch dance videos Particularly those of Jade Chynoweth, Sean Lew, Bailey Sok, and any Dance Sport account <3

Let's see.

My favourite page on Facebook is called Hey Little Sweet Thing. They're a family based in my country who have a 'gifted child' - a child with a learning disability where she has an extremely high IQ but an extremely low EQ. They share their family journey through their page, including things like updates about the daughter's development, tips for homeschooling (which they have to do), and cool crafts they did or adventures they went on.

My favourite blog on tumblr is battlecrazed-axe-mage, who blogs about gaming dice and aesthetics. It sounds trivial, but it's a big interest of mine and she has such a funny and quirky personality too. She also posts relatable stuff and updates about her gaming group.

I don't really follow other social media stuff 😣😣

My main media platform is Tumblr and I'm usually drawn to fandom posts. Ships are generally my favourite, but anything to do with my top fandoms (HP, Marvel, LotR, GoT, etc.) I love. I also enjoy memes as well. I sometimes use Twitter but only to keep up with celebrities that I like. On YouTube, I like watching gamers, but fanvideos are awesome and I love watching them. Crack fandom videos are the best 😂

• If your active on a social media platform then you've likely seen a page, group, or account you enjoy watching their content. What make an account or page popular largely depends on their content and target audience. What sort of content do you enjoy? What are some of your favorite account or groups to follow? Why do you enjoy them?

The kind of content I enjoy varies. I usually follow pages which are full of hilarious memes that relates to harry potter or study life or anything of that sort. I also like following cooking recipes and baking recipes, especially those that are easy to make. The main social media I am active on is Pinterest and the things I follow vary from memes on my fandoms, funny tumblr posts and probably even pictures of pets. Some of my favorite tumblr posts include Tennage posts and Life of a Background Slytherin. I enjoy them mainly because they are hilarious and fun to read. Plus I love sharing it with my friends

I am on Facebook, mostly for Harry Potter related pages. All of my friends are people who I met through the old Pottermore site or friends of theirs. I also check out the HEX Facebook page on occasion. Somedays, though, I am so busy that I forget to check FB or I just check in to wish people a happy birthday. These days, I find myself on HEX much more than I am on FB, but that may change after I sell all of my poinsettias.

I dont really hangout/check my social media as i have no idea how to use teitter or instagram. Heck, i barely know how to use FaceBook and Pinterest and I am on those rather frequently.
Anyways, for facebook its all about writing. There is nothing that i follow, friend, or like, that is not in some way connected to writing. I mostly use it for fanfiction stuff right now, Harry Potter of course. Mostly Dramione groups, but there are plenty of others. Its an awesome way to connect with my favorite fanfiction authors.

I enjoy groups that discuss 1960's fashion and styling I am on a few and they usually have a market place too where original 1960's vintage outfits can e bought for a fraction of the price on sites like etsy or ebay.

My preferred group is one where I actually know most of the members on there so it is a great way of sharing bargains we have found and asking for advice when putting an outfit together.

Other groups I follow regularly is The Cavern Club group it is run by Cavern staff and useful for getting advance notice of any up coming gigs at the club. I also follow a site that a friend of mine does that is a cross between local history and places in and around Liverpool that have close associations with the Beatles unlike many of the Beatles sites where there is a great deal of inaccurate information posted. My friend meticulously researches the sites and managed to get into some of the sites not normally open to the public to take photographs of what they are like now. He also spends a great deal of time trawling the archives of the Liverpool Echo to find old photographs of Liverpool to show what the places would have looked like when the Beatles were growing up in the City.

I have a Facebook account, though I'm not very active on it overall. I post occasionally, chat with friends occasionally, and occasionally look at my newsfeed. That said, I do follow a LOT of different groups, mostly those for book lovers/readers, science nerds, and, or course, various Hex/Harry Potter groups. I also follow a lot of different animal rescue groups that are local to my area, and a number of non-profit organization groups. Additionally, I am a member of various writing groups---for professional writers or those hoping to be professional writers one day.

I've had Facebook since I graduated university and I use that to keep up with friends and family. I also use it for local interest groups. The only other social media platform I use is Instagram but I use it strictly for my hobby and not for anything "real life". I follow lots of other performers so I can learn new skills and (hopefully) book more paying gigs. I also follow a couple humour pages on Instagram but not very many. I don't use any other social media! I can't be bothered to learn how, nor do I have the time or interest to see what my friend from high school ate for breakfast. 😉

I love desserts related pages or fun videos but also accounts about music, movies and all HP related I can find.

Right now I like Yolanda Gampp, how to cake it. I love to bake and she has a real good technique and amazing cakes. I love to see how she made cakes that are the same as RL objects.

Facebook is really the only social media I have. I use it to stay in touch with friends and family mostly. Most of what I follow is groups or pages of the movies or tv shows I like. There are some other pages I follow that deal with food and mom life. I like to see funny relatable post about being a mother that way I know I am not the only one who experiences some wild and crazy things.

I'm on different kind of platforms, but not realy active of any of them.
But if I'm on them, these are the things I enjoy.

Facebook: How my friends/family are doing or updates of concerts or comic cons nearby.
Instagram: Photo's that are either very funny, 9GAG things or pictures that are so beautiful it takes your breath away. Like a very good light, composition, depth, colors etc.
Pinterest: Anything that can give me ideas to design my own place or stuff from things I like. (harry potter, star wars, fantasy in general, horses, dogs, christmas wishes...)
Twitter: This I mainly use to follow actors, singers, artists in general. I like their updates on movie things they do or how passionate they get about political/nature things. Like Alyssa Milano who started #MeToo or Lana Parrilla who is clearly against president Trump and so on.

Instagram is really the only thing I follow on a semi-regular basis.
I follow my favorite band's members and their wives. And no that's not creepy because they've been around since . . . a long time ago. So, you sort of get invested in these cute little relationships. and of course the cute unmarried one, too.
I follow a lot of other bands, too. Painters and artists. Healing crystals and tarot and I've gotten into the Occult.
oh, and cats.
